Student Guide — IJO Portfolio

From requesting an account to submitting for review — step by step.

01

Request an account

One-time setup at the start of the semester

1 Request an account from your lecturer

You can't create an account yourself. Email your lecturer with:

  • Your full name (as you want it to appear on your portfolio)
  • Your Artevelde University of Applied Sciences email address (firstname.lastname@student.arteveldehs.be)
  • The academic year and programme: e.g. International Journalism 2026–27

2 Receive the activation email

You'll receive an automatic email from no-reply@arteveldehs.be with the subject line "Set your password — Arteveldehogeschool portfolio". The link in the email is valid for 72 hours.

Also check your spam/junk folder if you don't see the email. The activation link is valid for 72 hours.

3 Set your password

  • Click the "Set your password" button in the activation email.
  • Choose a password of at least 8 characters with at least one number.
  • Confirm the password and click "Activate account".
  • You'll be logged in automatically.
02

Via the browser

1 Log in via the browser

  1. Go to https://internationaljournalism.eu/admin (or the URL your lecturer provided).
  2. Enter your email address and password.
  3. Click "Log in".
💡

Save the URL as a bookmark. After logging in you'll only see the sections you have access to — that's normal.

2 What you see after logging in

The dashboard shows one section in the left column:

SectionPurpose
IJO WerkstukkenYour individual articles / projects

You only see your own entries — not those of other students.

💡

Working with classmates? A project can have up to 5 authors — ask your lecturer to add you as a co-author on the entry.

03

Forgot password

Reset via the login page

  1. Go to the login page: https://internationaljournalism.eu/admin
  2. Click "Forgot your password?" (at the bottom of the login form).
  3. Enter your email address and click "Send".
  4. You'll receive a reset email. The link is valid for 1 hour.
  5. Click the link, choose a new password, and log in.
💡

If you don't receive an email: check spam, or ask your lecturer to send a new activation link via the CP (Users → your name → Send activation email).

04

Add your work

The Featured Image must have alt text, a caption and credits filled in before you can submit this entry for review.

05

Submit for review

Via the Workflow button

Never click Publish. Your entry must not go live directly without approval from a lecturer.

1 Check before submitting

  • A Featured Image is added
  • Category, Academic Year and Tags are filled in
  • All text content is written in correct English
  • No placeholder texts remain ("Lorem ipsum", "test", …)

2 Save as draft

Click "Save as draft" at the top. Verify that the status badge on the left shows "Draft" (not "Live").

3 Submit via the Workflow button

  1. Find the "Workflow" section on the right side of the entry editor.
  2. Click "Submit for review".
  3. A text field "Note for the lecturer" appears — this is required. Write briefly what you've done and/or what feedback you expect.
  4. Click "Submit".

Example note: "Article fully written, sources added. Not sure about the headline yet — feedback welcome."

Your lecturer will receive an email notification.

4 Waiting for feedback

The status of your entry changes to "Pending review". You can't edit the entry until your lecturer responds.
